Discover 10+ frozen dessert ideas that prove healthy and delicious can go hand-in-hand.

What Is Frozen Dessert?

A frozen dessert is a sweet dish that’s typically frozen or made from frozen ingredients. These ingredients can be liquid or solid.

There are many different types of frozen desserts, including sorbets, custards, mousses, frozen yogurt, and sherberts

Depending on the recipe, you may need equipment like a juicer or food processor. However, some frozen desserts may be made without any equipment.

Frozen Dessert vs. Ice Cream: Is Ice Cream Frozen Dessert?

The difference between ice cream and most other frozen desserts is that ice cream is made from dairy. Store-bought frozen desserts that look and taste similar to ice cream are actually made from vegetable oils.

Side note: Frozen dessert is a broad term that may include non-dairy ice creams, too.

Ice cream is technically a frozen dessert, but it’s a whole category of dessert on its own because of its dairy content.

Some soft-serve ice creams are also non-dairy. Such ice creams may suit people who are lactose intolerant and can’t consume dairy at all.

The good news:

You can make both ice cream and frozen desserts at home.

Can You Make Frozen Desserts with a Slow Juicer?

Some frozen dessert recipes can be made using a slow juicer. Although the primary purpose of a slow juicer is to make fresh juice, you may be able to make frozen desserts like sorbet or gelatos if you get the right slow juicer

Most frozen dessert recipes call for frozen fruits, which Hurom slow juicers can work with easily. In some cases, there’s a separate component for this purpose.

Hurom’s slow juicers aren’t just great for producing quality cold-pressed juice—they can also help you make delicious frozen desserts.

Hurom H320 has a coarse strainer for smoothies. Similarly, Hurom H200 has a dedicated ice cream strainer that helps make ice cream at home. Just use the proper attachment when assembling the juicer and you’re ready to make some creative frozen desserts.

By comparison, Hurom 400 and Hurom H70 don’t have – or need – this extra attachment.
